Now taking registrations for my Encaustic and Fiber Arts 2-day workshop, the first in my new studio! July 26/27. You can sign up on my workshops page.

You can see some of my latest works through the summer at The Gallery, 100 Market St, Portsmouth NH.

Really encouraged to read this comment in April newsletter of Loving Mixed Media"To say Emma Ashby's encaustic works are anything but extraordinary would be an understatement. Bursting with life and vitality her works practically grow off the surface in a multicoloured explosion of colour, vibrancy and texture. The depth and almost 'eatability' of some of her creations is a real feast for the eye".

You can view some of my latest encaustics in a virtual gallery. Click here.

Encaustic is the ancient medium or technique of painting with molten beeswax mixed with resin and colored pigments that are heat-fused in layers to a support. The versatility, translucency, and textural capabilities of encaustic has made it very attractive to a wide variety of artists - painters, sculptors, photographers, collage and fiber artists have all been enticed to experiment with this fascinating medium.

For myself there has been no going back. With my background in fiber and textile design, the ability to incorporate fabric into my work, use vibrant colors and apply a variety of textures has caused me to fall in love with this amazing art form.

It gives me great joy to be able to share my passion with others. I am currently offering beginning and intermediate workshops in my private studio at The Button Factory in Portsmouth, NH, with some more specific workshops planned for later in the year.

Most workshops are limited to 4 people to provide proper supervision. The cost includes all materials needed.
